Replaced by the improved Freestyle2 Keyboard, the Freestyle Solo led the way in versatility of design and function. The low-profile keyboard was divided into two separate parts or modules, which were connected by an 8 inch cable. This modular design allowed individuals to configure the keyboard in an optimal orientation, either by splaying the modules at any angle or by adjusting the distance between the modules up to 8 inches. Different accessory kits offered additional keyboard configurations, including tenting the modules at set angles of elevation. The standard Freestyle Solo model was equipped with an 8 inch separation cable and was legended in English, but other models were also available, such as one offering a 20" separation cable, or one having a tri-color French Canadian bilingual legended layout.
ACCESSORY KITS
The VIP Accessory Kit for the Freestyle Solo allowed the user to create adjustable lateral sloping or tenting of the keyboard modules at 10° or 15°. Palm supports were included with this kit and installed with the tenting mechanisms. If a tenting mechanism without integrated palm supports was desired the V3 Accessory Kit was available, offering tenting of 5°, 10° and 15°, since it was not possible to use palm supports with the V3.
The more specialized Ascent Accessory Kit provided two multi-angle tenting modules which attached to the underside of the two keying modules. A linking plate could be used to connect the two tenting modules if desired. Tenting angles could be independently set for each tenting module in the range of 20° to 90°, in 10° increments. Left or right separation was limited only by the length of the keyboard's linking cable. The standard 8" separation cable was suitable for low elevations or minimal separation but the 20" linking cable was generally recommended for greater flexibility.
If a discrete numeric keypad was required, the Low Force Tactile Numeric Keypad by Kinesis (AC210USB-BLK), equipped with a built-in USB 2 port hub. was available. For more information see our Keypads category.

The Goldtouch ErgoSecure 2.0 Smart Card Keyboard by Key Ovation is an ergonomic keyboard with security technology for those requiring a secure computing environment. Ergonomically, it is designed to help prevent or address soft tissue injuries caused by pronation, ulnar deviation, or both. The left and right halves of the keyboard are connected by a simple ball joint mechanism and can be configured to tent upwards, allowing individuals to type with their palms slightly facing each other at an anatomically neutral angle; to splay outwards, allowing the hands, wrists and shoulders to be kept comfortably straight as they type; or to tent and splay. The compact design, achieved by the elimination of a built-in numeric keypad, helps to prevent strain in the shoulder and neck muscles caused by overreaching for the mouse.
In terms of security features, the ErgoSecure 2.0 comes with a fully integrated SCM STC II Smart Card Chip. This chip is compliant with most security regulations (ISO7816,1,2,3,4 T=0 and T=1 protocols, TAA Compliant, FIPS 201 Approved, ISO/IEC 15411 Compliant, and Available via GSA), works in both synchronous and asynchronous modes, is 3V and 5V selectable, and offers adjustable transaction speeds up to 1000 Kb/s for fast Crypto data exchange. It has also passed certifications such as Microsoft WHQL, EMV Level 1, Mondex, CAC, PIV, American Express, and Entrust.
Caution: Those who use the Goldtouch Numeric Keypad with a Goldtouch ErgoSecure Keyboard should be certain to plug the Keyboard directly into the computer, or into an external USB hub. Connecting a keyboard to the computer via any of the ports on the Goldtouch Numeric Keypad can cause both devices to malfunction.
