The Compact Keyboard with Trackball from Solidtek is an 89 key mini-keyboard with a small (0.8 cm diameter) built-in optical trackball and buttons. All alpha-numeric keys are standard size; the rest are smaller than normal, including the Enter, Shift, and Space keys. There is also an embedded numeric keypad (legended in blue) instead of a discrete numeric keypad.

The Silicone Industrial Waterproof Compact Keyboard from Solidtek features a "slightly compact" layout with 17 mm key pitch spacing and large oversized legends. The result is an overall keyboard width of just 10.75". The Function Keys are just a 10 mm keycap but do offer access to media controls, email, and calculator as well as other commands. The "soft touch" rubberized surface is easy on the fingers and also keeps the keyboard firmly positioned. Numeric entry is accommodated by the embedded numeric keypad.

This keyboard from Solidtek is designed for use in wet or dirty environments that would quickly render traditional keyboards inoperable or greatly shorten their life expectancy. It is fully enclosed in silicone and meets IP68 standards for protection from dust and moisture. Potential applications might include manufacturing equipment data input, medical or dental environments in which equipment must be sterilized, and any location where data entry is necessary but where moisture or dirt are prevalent. Key activation provides distinct tactile feedback that may be necessary where gloves might hide more subtle response.

The small footprint means that this keyboard can be deployed where space would not accommodate a full-size keyboard, while still providing full functionality. The slightly compact key pitch will still work for most individuals but the closer spacing needs to be considered when determining the suitability. Keying accuracy can be ensured if a two-fingered typing style that eliminates the chance of overshooting the targeted keys is adopted. For these reasons this keyboard is more suitable for short bursts of data or numeric entry than for periods of extended typing, exactly the type of use that is required in keyboard unfriendly environments.

The R-Go Compact Break Ergonomic Keyboard (available in Wired or Bluetooth models) eliminates the need to reach out and over a numeric keypad and navigation keys when reaching for a mouse on the right, addressing a common source of discomfort and pain. At just 11.2" in width this keyboard has a minimal footprint that will work on any desk or keyboard tray. The compact design is suitable for both left- and right-handed typists who wish to keep their mouse close at hand. The exceptionally thin (9 mm) profile of the Compact Break Keyboard also greatly reduces the potential of developing RSI related to wrist extension. The usage-monitoring Break software offers a colour-changing logo to remind typists to take breaks to move, stretch, and ease their eyes.

The R-Go Compact Break Keyboard features low-travel scissor switch membrane key switches with chiclet-style keycaps. Key spacing is standard and all primary keys are full-size, reducing adaptation time to a minimum. Typists who are looking for an easily portable keyboard may want to consider this keyboard. The ultra-compact design and just 310 gram weight of the R-Go Compact Break Ergonomic Keyboard make it highly suited for travel applications. The Wired model is equipped with a USB-C connection but ships with an adapter for use with USB-A ports, while the Bluetooth model offers a wireless connection to Bluetooth-enabled devices.

The R-Go Compact Break Ergonomic Keyboard does not include an embedded numeric keypad. Numeric entry must be completed either using the standard keyboard upper rank numeric keys or a stand-alone numeric keypad can be purchased. The R-Go Numpad Break is an ideal matching accessory keypad, with both Wired and Bluetooth models available. The wired model can be plugged directly into either the left or right side of the R-Go Compact Break Keyboard or into any standard USB port, and, of course, the Bluetooth model connects to Bluetooth-enabled devices.

For those who like the low profile of the R-GO Compact Break but may be looking to address the ergonomics of their workstation to an even greater degree, the R-Go Split Ergonomic Keyboard, available in both Wired and Bluetooth models offers the options of either a one-piece keyboard or of spreading the keyboard halves apart to gain additional ergonomic benefits.

The UltraBoard 950 compact keyboard from Bakker Elkhuizen reduces the reach to the mouse by repositioning the navigation keys and removing the numeric keypad. The result is a keyboard with a width of just 11.22". This compact design reduces the distance the right hand must move when switching between keyboard and mouse usage by at least 6" (when compared to a standard full-size keyboard). In doing so it reduces the potential for associated shoulder issues that can arise from repetitive overreaching.

The UltraBoard 950 also features a low profile with a maximum height of just 0.75" to reduce the potential for wrist extension. The scissor-stabilized switches are topped with slightly concave keycaps to help guide the fingers to the optimum keying position. The light colour keycaps are matte finish to reduce glare and are printed with high contrast darker colours to optimize viewing under all lighting conditions. Convenient dual USB ports are located on the left and right of the keyboard housing for connection of a mouse, USB stick, etc. The compact dimensions and low weight of the UltraBoard 950 make it very suitable for mobile computing.

If numeric entry is required the UltraBoard 950 does include an "embedded" numeric keypad or it can also be easily accessorized with the matching Ultraboard 955 Numeric Keypad or the S-Board 840 Design Numeric Keypad and Calculator. Both of these convenient accessories can be positioned wherever most convenient. Those who want to reduce their reach but prefer to still have an attached numeric keypad may wish to consider the UltraBoard 960 Compact Standard keyboard.

The Freestyle2 Blue Keyboard combines the full range of ergonomic benefits offered by one of the most versatile keyboard designs currently manufactured with convenient multi-channel Bluetooth functionality. The Freestyle2 Blue Keyboard is divided into two separate modules connected by a 9" cable. This separation enables individuals to position the left and right sides of the keyboard shoulder width apart, allowing the shoulders, elbows, arms and wrists to relax in an anatomically neutral position (with full separation the distance between index finger to index finger on the home row is approximately 11.5"). This greatly improves posture and blood flow in the upper body, prevents undesirable rotation at the shoulders, and eliminates ulnar deviation at the wrist.

The compact symmetrical layout is achieved by removing the numeric keypad found on the right side of most keyboards. This reduces the reach for the mouse for right-handed individuals and optimizes the workspace for everyone. Of course, access to numbers is retained via the top row.
Note: Unlike the wired Freestyle2 for PC, the Freestyle2 Blue does not include an embedded numeric keypad.

The Freestyle2 Blue features low-force, tactile membrane keyswitches. At only 45 grams, this is at least 25% less force than most traditional and even many other ergonomic keyboards. Rated at 10 million actuations, the keyswitches on the Freestyle2 will provide years of quiet, comfortable typing.

Note: The Freestyle2 Blue ships with a Pivot Tether that secures the two modules together at a pivot point. Although intended primarily to secure the two modules during transport, it can be used to create a splayed (i.e. joined at the centre top) keyboard. However, this configuration will significantly limit the ergonomic benefits.

The Freestyle2 Blue Multichannel Bluetooth Keyboard can also be further customized with one or more Accessory Kits. (Note: Accessory Kits sold separately. See Detailed Specifications for more information.) With the addition of the appropriate Accessory Kit, this already highly configurable keyboard can be customized to provide even more ergonomic benefits.

The Goldtouch Go!2 Mobile Keyboard strikes a balance between the opposing demands of ergonomics and portability. Like the Goldtouch desktop keyboards, (GTN-0099, GTU-0088, GTN99-FC), the Go!2 Mobile Keyboard can be splayed to reduce ulnar deviation; tented to reduce pronation; or both tented and splayed. Weighing only 1.1 lbs, and only 13.5" wide when in use, the keyboard is easily folded in half for compact storage and transport. Quiet, full-sized, low-travel scissor-switch membrane keys are legended for both PC and Mac operating systems. While the surface of the keyboard is flat, the housing of the Goldtouch Go!2 Mobile Keyboard has a slight positive incline when the keyboard is not tented.

The Goldtouch Go!2 Mobile Keyboard is available in both wired and Bluetooth models. The Wired model (GTP-0044) offers Secondary Function access to an embedded numeric keypad for those using a Windows OS and multimedia controls in both Windows and Mac OS. The Bluetooth model (GTP-0044W) do NOT have an embedded numeric keypad. Both models offer several other functions in Windows OS (see the User Manual.)

The Wireless Ergonomic Mini Trackball Keyboard from Adesso has a tenkeyless layout and features a fixed split design with integrated cursor control and clicking. The compact width of just 13.8" and incorporated cursor control reduce the risk of overreach not uncommon with full-width keyboards. This keyboard employs moderate resistance tactile membrane keyswitches to provide feedback while typing and the centrally-positioned 0.875" diameter trackball provides smooth and accurate cursor control while eliminating the need for extended reach to the mouse on the right or left. Vertical scrolling is provided by a scroll wheel positioned just above the trackball and between the left and right space bars. All of the alpha-numeric keys are standard size, unlike many similar keyboards that have wider keys to create a more symmetrical appearance. This means that a consistent target is present for the fingers on all keys. The Function row of keys are half-height, to help reduce the depth of the keyboard footprint. The keycap legends are twice the size of standard legending, making this suitable where higher visibility is required.

While the keyboard does offer a split layout, the separation in the middle is quite limited when compared to other split keyboards, even earlier models from Adesso. The minimal separation limits the benefit that the split could otherwise provide. The splay angle is also less than most other fixed-splay keyboards, only around 24°. The minimal separation and the reduced splay will result in some degree of wrist deviation for all except those of very slender build.

The Wireless Ergonomic Mini Trackball Keyboard includes an integrated sloping palm support. Ccomposed of hard plastic that is fairly slippery, this can result in the hands slipping back off the keyboard. The shallow depth of the supports will most likely exacerbate this, so only those with the smallest of hands will actually be able to benefit from the proffered support. Both left and right Space Bar keys lack stabilization which leads to a variance in activation feel over the width of the spacebar.

The left and right alpha-numeric key groupings also feature slightly differing angles and keycap elevation. The left has both a slightly steeper angle and greater keycap elevation from row to row than the right key group. While the variance is not pronounced there may be those who find it significant enough to affect their positional proprioception.

At last, the TypeMatrix alternative layout compact keyboard is available in native USB! This latest offering retains the features which this line has been known for including an innovative orthogonal layout and crisp scissor-switch membrane keyswitches in a minimalist housing (12.75" W x 5.25" D x 0.5" H [32.4 cm W x 13.3 cm D x 1.3 cm H]), allowing for easy storage and transport as an external keyboard for your laptop.

This newest version of the 2030 TypeMatrix keyboard has a redesigned layout for both the QWERTY and DVORAK models, and now also comes in a BLANK unlegended model.
