The Programmable Rows and Columns Keyboard from Cherry is a fully programmable 142-key Point-of-Sale keyboard. The compact footprint (14" wide x 7.75" deep) means it can be deployed even in very space-limited work areas and the simple 18x8 matrix orthogonal layout lets one quickly learn common key positions. A pre-legended numeric keypad is conveniently located in the lower right corner. IP54 Spill and Dust resistance ratings ensure reliability in harsh environments.
The "CHERRY Tools" virtual programming provides simple programming/reprogramming of all keys with the option of creating up to 3 layers of custom commands. Keys are relegendable via the removable keycaps to ensure ease when products or functions change. Comprehensive UPOS Support is available for both Windows and Linux Client Architecture.

Whether you are a Graphic Designer, an Architect, a Web Manager, or a Two-finger Typist, proficiency in your software requires rapid input. Keyboard Macros and Hot Keys offer the shortest path to action, and the X-keys provides a clearly labeled, physical location for these complex or redundant functions so you don't have to think about them. The X-keys lets you focus on the project instead of the process.
There are two models of the USB version. The XD-293 come with pre-printed legends for commonly assigned tasks (on the bottom of the plastic keycaps), but these legends can be covered with the included blank labels to allow you to customize as needed. The XD-03 has blank plastic keycaps (i.e. nothing initially pre-printed on the units).
Note:These X-keys devices have been discontinued. We have a limited supply in inventory available for use in legacy systems. Programming of these devices may not be supported in current operating systems. Please see our recommended replacements here: XK-24 and XK-60.

The X-keys XBE-24 Keypad from PI Engineering is a robust programmable keypad that lets individuals customize their input by mapping complex macros, specialized commands, and shortcuts to a single key. The keypad can be programmed in two ways. In software mode the programming software stores the program on the host computer, ideal for situations where revisions to the programming may be required. In hardware mode the programming is written to the internal memory and the device can be pre-programmed and then deployed to any computer that accepts USB keyboard input.
The XBE-24 Keypad can be programmed in 2 distinct layers with 46 programmable functions and serve as addition or substitution to the standard USB keyboard. This device can send keystrokes to any operating system or application which recognizes a USB keyboard. Clear key lenses keep printed or handwritten legends securely in place and protect them from wear while making it quick and easy to update them. XBE-24 keypads are also equipped with fully addressable RGB backlighting (both colour and intensity), and have two separately programmable LEDs per switch.
The Free MacroWorks 3 (MW3) Software for Windows provides simple programming for launching applications, opening files or accessing directories. It also facilitates the insertion of special characters, foreign language letters and symbols as Unicode text strings which can then be assigned to any key. MacroWorks 3 can be used to program the keypad in hardware mode for deployment on Mac computers. Mac users also have the option of the basic X-Keys Mac App or the third party Keyboard Maestro software. PI Engineering's new PI3 firmware offers new capabilities to the developer including flash updates, a joystick / mouse emulation and the newly developed Reflector Mode. Reflector Mode allows the developer to send outbound messages to the X-keys which can be reflected back to the Operating System in keyboard, mouse or joystick data stream.
XBE-24 Keypads are designed for survival in rough environments with a machined aluminum housing. The robust design makes these equally suitable for deployment in office or industrial settings. The base is angled to offer enhanced viewing in landscape mode and the backlighting also makes them ideal where lighting levels are low.
